Who we are...

Michael, Shane, Matt, Craig, Graeme, Sandra, Neil, Joe, Darren, Greg, and Jonathan and Hasiba (driver and support crew) - we're just work colleagues from Richmond, looking to take on the open roads of France and Belgium to rasie money for Help for Heroes in commemoration of the centenary of World War One.

This is all for the cause of raising money for Help for Heroes, and you can donate by clicking here

A team of 12 Reed Exhibitions’ employees will embark upon a challenging and inspirational journey to commemorate the centenary of World War One and show their respect for the men and women who lost their lives fighting for their countries.

Fitting with the anniversary, the chosen location for a charity bike ride will be one of the main scenes of the war; France and Belgium.

Not only have the team ensured they carry out their challenge in an appropriate location, they have chosen a dedicated charity that provides support for Servicemen or women who suffer life changing injuries in the line of duty; Help for Heroes.

The team will cycle over four days covering approximately 300 miles. Starting in France, Dunkirk, they will begin their challenge on July 4th 2014 stopping at Ypres (Belgium), Albert (France), Bruges (Belgium) and then back to Dunkirk. During the four days they will visit some of the battlefields and cemeteries in the region.

With a fundraising target of £1,500, Help for Heroes (H4H) is delighted to be the charity of choice for the cycle event. Shaun Pickford, Head of Events & Challenges at H4H says: “Help for Heroes is all about ‘doing your bit’ and it’s thanks to the support from the public and organisations like Reed Exhibitions that we are able to support our wounded and their families. Soldiers, sailors and airmen who are injured today will still need our support in the future. They are still battling and we won't let them battle alone.”

A challenge of this magnitude requires dedication and passion. The 12 riders have been training hard over the last few months in preparation. Despite the poor weather conditions they have still carried on working hard to reach their individual goals.
